School Improvement Goals and Theories of Action 2023-28
In consultation with our staff and our community, we created during the 2022-23 school year Goals and a Theory of Action for Mental Health and Well-Being, Instruction and Assessment and Equity and Inclusivity. We also created a parent friendly version of our Theory of Action to support our work going forward. Our next steps are to work with staff and our community to define action and supports that will help us reach these goals over the next 3-5 years.

Our goal is to always consider identity and the impact of oppression on our students so that students can be their authentic self at school.
Our Theory of Action is that if we deepen our understanding of an anti-oppressive framework in order to intentionally plan, instruct and assess, and to honour social identities using the YRDSB Wellbeing Model of Within, Between & Around, then we expect to see students develop a greater sense of self-acceptance and belonging within all aspects of their school experience.
Our parent-friendly theory of action is that if we plan for your child intentionally so they see themselves and others around them honoured in their learning, then we expect them to feel as if they matter and belong.

Our goal is to provide culturally responsive instruction that engages our students in higher order thinking so that they can think critically about their world while making connections to their own lives.
Our Theory of Action is that if we provide culturally responsive instruction and assessment by engaging students in meaningful tasks using authentic resources that allow them to make connections and affirm identity, then our students will build schema which promotes critical thinking about themselves and their world. We expect our students to become contributing members of society by building their agency and sense of global citizenship.
Our parent-friendly theory of action is that if we provide your child with meaningful learning that is important to them, then they will be able to think deeply and make connections to their lives. We want their learning to give them the skills to make a difference in the world.

Our goal ist o create identity-affirming and culturally responsive learning experiences for our students, so that our students see themselves reflected in their learning and become contributing members of society.
Our theory of action is that if we honour diverse student identities and lived experiences through an anti-oppressive framework while strengthening community partnerships, then we expect to see our students recognize and address oppression while working towards dismantling system barriers and becoming contributing members of society.
Our parent friendly theory of action is that we always consider who our students are and how they learn, giving them meaningful work that is important to them, then your child will learn the skills to think critically about their world and how they fit in and can make a difference.
